Brandon dived down, just barely avoiding the monster's horns and snapping jaw. He swam down to the bottom of the water, figuring he could push off the bottom to avoid the second charge.
As his feet touched on the sandy bottom, he felt something poke the bare sole of his foot. Glancing down, he spotted a new hairpin. He picked it up, figuring it must have been one of his two. But on closer examination, Brandon realized this pin was white, intricately designed in a radiating wave.
But then the monster charged again, and Brandon had no choice but to tuck the pin away with the others and dodge the attack. He came back to the surface, gasping for breadth as he tried to find the form of the creature before it made another pass.
As he searched, Brandon was reminded of the first fight he had, against that strange blob of cold in the village. The memory of how the temperature dropped around him seemed so vivid to Brandon. In fact, he felt a little chilly right now. His nipples were stiff as rocks. Of course, Brandon didn't realize that his nipples also looked rather swollen, far beyond any male proportion.
Brandon spotted the monstrous fish again, swiftly approaching again. Panicking, he channeled his sense of cold into his hand, and to his surprise it worked. Just as the blob was able to freeze the air around it at will, Brandon could also freeze portions of the water solid.
Brandon tried again, aiming his power this time. The water around the charging monster froze, trapping the creature inside a miniature iceberg. A moment later the ice shattered, and the creature exploded into those strange spirits Brandon had seen with the ghosts.
The battle over, Brandon decided he had quite enough swimming for now, and headed back towards the shore.
