"Oh, this?" Rouge asks coyly. "Well, if you must know, this is what I plan to use to fill the blank space on that screen."
"This is impossible! This isn't how the game goes at all!" the shopkeeper said.
"Game? Oh, poor dear, you think mobius is contained to those silly little games of yours? No, as you'll soon find out, there's a whole world out there, and I just found a way to revolutionize it," Rouge said, drawing ever closer.
"You're crazy!" the shopkeeper practically shouted.
"Says the man who turns people into video game characters for kicks. Now, be nice, and put on the glove."
"No! I refuse to be part of the weird little group you're making!" the shopkeeper said. His eyes lit up, as he thought of a possible rationalization out. "If you put me in there, you have no way of going back! The game can only go up to four players!"
"Oh, silly boy, didn't I tell you that the world you unleashed isn't contained to those games. Besides, having three members for the group I'm making seems a little small. Four seems closer to target, but who knows? Maybe I'll even put it up to seven, one for each chaos emerald, while I keep myself lined up with the biggest gem of all, the one responsible for my freedom."
The shopkeeper back away from the approaching bat woman, but Rouge moved with a grace that seemed impossible for a creature of her clunky proportions, ducking under the man and slipping the glove on, which fit perfectly, despite being too small, to skinny, and sporting only four fingers.
As the shopkeeper disappeared in a flash of light, the last thing he saw was Rouge give him a wicked grin as she gave a little wave goodbye.
