"Damn it," Richard uttered, as he watched George walk out of the shop, a large costume box under his arm.
"Can I help you?" an old man in a robe asked nearby.
"I needed a costume for a party tonight, but I guess you're all out."
"Not all out," the old man said. "We have one more. But I'm not sure it's what you want," he said, gesturing towards a large box sitting on the check-out counter.
"Anything," Richard said, approaching the counter. After he opened the box, he cringed, suddenly regretting what he said. But he needed a costume, even if it was a cupid costume.
"So, will you take it?" the old man asked.
Richard sighed. "Yeah, I guess so. How much?"
"Thirty dollars."
He handed the old man the money and then left the shop. There were still a few hours before Kim's party. Maybe he could try on the costume at his dorm room, to see how he looked in it. He hoped it wouldn't make him look ridiculous.
