Sarah was hit by a beam from the Random Gun.
Shit!, was her first thought. Then, she started to panic.
Instantly, she began changing. Her breasts shrank as her chest flattened, becoming hard pectoral muscle. Her hair became shorter and her face reshaped itself, becoming square and masculine. Her figure began to gain mass and muscle.
Soon, Sarah McMillan was a teenage boy. But not just any boy. He now had the body of a strong, muscular, football player and was in fact now dressed in a football uniform.
New information began pouring into his mind. Instantly, he knew about every play and maneuver in football. And he also knew what to do now.
Quickly, he charged at Mrs. Williams, tackling her to the floor. Mrs. Williams was so surprised at this that she lost her grip on the Random Gun and it went off
A beam of light struck Mrs. Williams as she struggled for the Random Gun
Instantly, she changed, becoming a dried-up old man with chalk-white hair.
Sarah the football player lunged forward with the speed of a linebacker and punched the old man that was once Mrs. Williams right in the jaw. He was out cold immediately.
What did I just do?
She took a close look. The old man was still breathing, but clearly unconscious. For a moment, she thought of zapping him with the Random Gun, then worried what might happen if the gun was used on someone in his condition.
"Is he...?" Reggie, the dark-skinned cheerleader asked.
"No, he's alive." Sarah replied grimly in his big voice.. "But he's going to need an ambulance. I'd try to change him back but I don't know if he'd survive. He ... might not make it anyway..."
"Don't be so hard on yourself, Sarah. It was self defense." Reggie said.
"Yeah. It was her or you." said Biff, who was now a nine-year old boy. "Now, are you gonna use that thing to change us back?"
"What?!?" Sarah exclaimed. "After what we've just been through, and after what we've just seen, you want to risk getting turned into some crazy nutcase like Mrs. Williams? This thing is random! That means it's dangerously unpredictable! How many times would we have to shoot everyone with this before we got 'close enough?' It doesn't just affect bodies, it can affect minds, too! Look what happened to Mrs. Williams! It made her the lunatic that changed everyone in this class just for fun! Those who kept their original personalities more or less intact are the lucky ones!"
The transformed class members were slowly standing up, and looking at Sarah in confusion. Sarah saw that while some still looked like they were high-school age (though she was sure many were not the gender or race they had started with, nor their 'social group'), some now looked like kindergarteners, and some were now adults in their thirties.
"Believe me, I wish I knew how to change you all back, but I know the Random Gun isn't the way." Sarah said, her tone softening briefly.
"So, what are we going to do now?" Reggie asked. "Turn the gun in with the others at the principal's office?"
"No." said Sarah grimly. "I'm going to destroy it."
