About twenty feet away, Steve Farber emerged from between some bookcases. Usually, he had little interest in libraries, but he had been told that Biff would be here cramming for a test. For a moment, the boy smirked at the mental picture. He really doubted that Biff was actually studying.
Sure enough, he spotted his friend bent over a book, his head propped up by his arm. From this angle, anyone could see that he was sleeping rather than reading. "Well, somebody'd better wake him up," Steve mumbled to himself as he sauntered towards the table.
Suddenly, a thin, nearly invisible beam of light struck the dozing Biff from behind. Right before Steve's eyes, the teenage athlete seemed to collapse in on himself, details blurring as his masculine frame gave way to something completely different. Meanwhile, a mass of curly blonde hair draped over the smaller figure, blocking any further observation.
"What th- " Steve stumbled back as the new person yawned and straightened up. The face that came into view still resembled Biff somewhat, as if the jock had a really hot twin sister.
Spotting her audience of one, the girl smiled and greeted the boy. "Hi, Steve. Want to join me for a study session?"
"Who're you?" Steve blurted out.
The girl tilted her head. "What do you mean? I'm Beth, of course. You're best friend and study partner."
"B-but where's Biff?" The young man demanded.
"Biff?" Now, the girl seemed confused. "Who's Biff?"
"He was right here! He was " Then, Steve remembered something. "Wait, that light, it came from " He scanned the area and finally noticed Mrs. Finch standing half-hidden by a shelf. In her hand, she held a strange gun-like device.
For a moment, their eyes met, and the librarian grinned. Before Steve could react, she aimed the gun at him and fired.
Steve gawked in horror as his own body blurred. Before he could even make a sound, an unseen force closed his eyelids, preventing him from seeing his changes. Odd sensations bombarded him, and his mind swirled about as new memories replaced his old ones, reshaping his identity into that of
"Stacey?" Beth's voice cut through the fog. "Are you alright?"
The new girl opened her eyes again. "What?"
"Are you alright, Stacey?" Beth repeated. "You kind of zoned out a second ago."
"I did?" Stacey ran a hand through her long auburn hair. "Hm, maybe I've got a lot on my mind. Anyway, are we gonna study together or what?"
"Of course," Beth smiled cheerfully as she led her friend to the table. "I've got everything we need right here. We'll definitely be ready for that test."
As the two girls settled down and dedicated themselves to expanding their minds, Mrs. Finch smiled with satisfaction. Those two ignorant jocks had become proper young ladies with bright futures ahead of them. This confirmed to her that every student in the school would benefit from this privilege only she could bestow. With her purpose set, she headed farther into the library in search of more lucky youngsters to improve.
