On her way out the door, however, Candice stopped, almost tripping over a package sitting on the porch. She picked up the box and looked at it. It had the same writing as the last box she received: FEMALE DESIGNS. They sent her another package? She didn't hear the delivery man. Did he leave it there overnight? She must have really been out cold after eating lunch the previous day if she didn't even know that another delivery was made.
Shaking her head, she brought the package into the house and opened it. She had time.
Inside was a pair of high-heeled shoes. They had three-inch heels. Candice never wore anything that high. But even so, they looked like the type of shoes she'd usually wear. Nothing too fancy and they looked comfortable enough.
She took off the pair she got for free the previous day and slipped on the new ones.
A soft sigh of exquisite happiness escaped her lips. This was something different than before, something flat-out amazing. She felt like running a marathon and grinning at everyone and everything on the way. It was like every molecule of her body had woken up and decided today was the day to burst. Her living room suddenly felt unbearably hot, but in a good, sauna sort of way. Candace unbuttoned the top two buttons of her blouse unconsciously, and walked into the kitchen to turn on the ceiling fan, enjoying the cool air as it tickled her exposed bare skin.
"Are you okay?" a voice suddenly asked.
Candace turned, maybe a little less urgently than she should have, and realized that she hadn't closed her front door. Apparently, someone used the opportunity to come into her house. When she was all the way turned around, she saw that her visitor was ...
