As Candice opened the front door, she wondered if it was another package from Female Designs, but it wasn't. Instead, it was Stacey.
"Oh, hello, Stacey," Candice said.
"Feeling any better? I thought I'd just stop by to check up on you."
"Yeah, actually, I do feel better. I think I just needed something to eat." And something to touch, she thought, with a slight cringe, thinking of the act of masturbation she performed earlier.
Stacey poked her head into the house and saw the mess in the kitchen. "How much did you eat?" she asked, with wide eyes.
"Let's just say it was enough. You know, Stacey. I feel a whole lot better. I may even be able to go and ..."
"No. I saw you this morning. You really need a break. Come on, Candice. It's only one day. Just rest, okay?"
Candice shrugged. "Yeah, okay. But I plan on going to the meetings tomorrow."
"No one said you shouldn't," Stacey said. She looked at her watch. "Listen, I've gotta go. See tomorrow, huh?"
"Yeah, okay. Bye," Candice said, before closing the door. She turned towards the kitchen and sighed. She had quite a mess to clean up. She didn't even remember making all that food. It was all just one big blur. But she did remember eating it. Oh, I hope I don't gain any weight from this, she thought.
Jon walked down the hall and met up with Karyn. They were heading to lunch.
"So, anything?" he asked.
"Nope. Nothing interesting. It's just a normal school day," Karyn said.
"Yeah, I didn't notice anything either."
Karyn stopped suddenly.
"What is it?" Jon asked.
"Are you sure that whatever you think will happen will happen here at school?"
"Well, I assumed it would be here. It wouldn't be interesting unless I noticed it, right?"
"Not necessarily. I think if anyone noticed it, it would interesting, not just you, or me, for that matter."
"Do you know what you're saying? Something weird could be happening across town and we wouldn't even know it."
"That's exactly what I'm saying," Karyn said. "But ... how do you know that it has to be in town? It could be happening across the entire world."
Jon shook his head. "The stone has a range, remember?"
"Oh, yeah. Well, at least that'll keep it isolated, whatever it is."
Suddenly, the hallway started to get really crowded, as students headed towards the cafeteria.
"We better get to lunch. I don't want to be last in line again," Jon said.
Karyn nodded and then they headed to the cafeteria with everyone else.
