As Candice tried to settle down, the doorbell rang, startling her. After regaining her composure and smoothing out her outfit, she answered the door. A young man stood on the porch, holding a medium-sized cardboard box.
"Special delivery," he said, handing the box over to her.
That's odd. I didn't order anything, she thought, as she took it from him. She figured she'd have to sign for it, but the man turned around and walked away. Apparently not, she thought, bringing the box into the house and shutting the door.
It was a medium-sized box, but not very heavy. She wondered what was inside. The "mystery" box was a good distraction for her. More than anything, she wanted to forget about what she had done a few minutes ago.
Candice rotated the box around in her hands until she spotted some writing: FEMALE DESIGNS.
"That store I went to? How do they know where I live?" She felt a little paranoid at that moment. Like someone was watching her, but that was ridiculous, right? Despite her uncomfortable feelings about the clothing store that sent her the box, though, she opened it anyway.
Her eyes went wide at seeing the white plush robe neatly folded within the box. She took it out and looked at it. It looked just like the one she already owned, but was brand new. It was even the same size, judging by how it looked. She tried it on over her clothes. Yep, it was her size. How did Female Designs know her size?
That thought quickly disappeared as Candice took the robe into her bathroom and replaced her old one with it. She ran her hand over the soft material. She looked forward to wearing it later that night.
She walked back towards the front of the house and then into the kitchen. For some reason, she was extremely hungry. She looked at the clock. It wasn't even noon yet. Regardless, though, she decided to eat an early lunch.
