"But all the other girls at school have one!"

Jon could hear his sister pleading out in the hall.

"For the last time, they're expensive, and its far too hard to find a proper donor."

He heard Miranda respond.

"Maybe for your birthday." She added.

Amelia, Jon's sister, was turning 18 this month. Naturally, she was under a lot of peer-pressure.

Jon opted to ignore the conversation in the hallway and resumed his work. He had lots of homework to do, and wasn't about to let a little whining interrupt it.
An hour or so later, he heard a knock on the door. Before Jon could get up however, Miranda opened it and peered in.

"Oh hey Jon, thought I'd find you here." She said, "I'm just knocking to ask if you had anything going on tomorrow."

"Why do you ask?" Responded Jon

"Oh, I was thinking of booking a doctor's appointment for you is all, I thought I may as well since I'm going into town for Amelia's gift."

"Uuuh, sure I guess."

Jon wasn't a big fan of doctor's appointments, but he suspected she just wanted some help picking a gift for his sister, and needed an excuse to bring him along, lest Amelia suspect anything.
The rest of Jon's day went as normal, at lunch him and his family ate around the dinner table to the incessant begging of Amelia, and later continued trying to ignore her over dinner too.
The following morning, Miranda woke him up earlier than usual, around 6 AM. They hopped in the car together and departed for town.

On their way, Miranda spoke up.

"Sooo, how's your homework coming honey?"

"Ehh, not great, its pretty tedious and I'm not making much progress."

"Oh? Well I wouldn't worry too much about that. It'll all be fine soon enough."

Jon and Miranda entered the parking lot of some sort of clinic. Jon didn't recognize it as the one they normally went to for checkups.

"Hey, are you sure we're in the right place?" said Jon, "This isn't where I normally have my checkups."

"Oh no, you're here for a special procedure honey." Responded his mother.

The pair stepped out of their vehicle and made their way inside the clinic, where they were greeted by a disinterested looking receptionist.

"Appointment?" Drawled the receptionist.

"I have all the paperwork right here." Responded Miranda.

Jon didn't know why she'd need this much paperwork for a simple checkup, but, trusting her judgement, Jon went along with her.

"Please be seated." said the receptionist.

The duo complied, and went to sit in the waiting area near the clinic entrance.
A few minutes later, a nurse walked in pushing a wheelchair.

"Jon?" said the nurse aloud.

Miranda grabbed his hand and raised it. "Here!" She said.

"Please sit down in the chair." Said the nurse.

Jon didn't know why he had to sit in a wheelchair when he was perfectly capable of walking himself. But complied nonetheless.
The nurse then wheeled Jon through a set of steel doors, followed closely by his mother. They made their way down a hall and into a checkup room.
The nurse then walked over to a counter and took out a case with some needles and bottles of liquid inside.

"Before we begin, just a few questions. Have you consumed any marijuana in the last week?"

"No" Responded Jon, unsure as to why the nurse was asking such questions,

"No other drugs either?"

"No"

"Have you had intercourse?

"Of course not."

"Excellent." replied the nurse.

Jon hadn't been paying attention, but the nurse had been slowly approaching as she questioned him.
Before he could register her presence, The nurse, in a motion she had obviously done hundreds of times, jabbed Jon swiftly in the arm.
Jon initially assumed she had just vaccinated him or something, but before he could ask why, he found himself unable to move. His vision then began to blur as he lost consciousness.

"Alright, now we can begin the surgery" is the last thing Jon heard before blacking out.
