The drive to Tiffany's house took about 20 minutes, which was quite impressive, considering that she lived in the rich part of the town, which was at the opposite end of the town from the school. I learned, during this trip, that Tiffany was pretty liberal with the gas pedal. And a fan of all the pop music that, as Jon, I despised.
When the trip was finally over, I shakily got out of her car, and looked up at her home. Then, my jaw fell open.
"Holy crap..." I said. "I knew you were rich, but...holy crap." The Sanders' 'house' was a legitimate mansion. I had known that Sarah McMillan and her clique were well off, and they lived in large houses but to see a mansion like this was another thing completely.
"Like, chill out..." Tiffany said. "It's not a big deal. It's just a house, ya know?"
"Tiffany, this is, like, the size of 5 of my house." I said, trying to make her understand.
"Well, for the next week, this is your house." she replied. "And you can, like, call me Tiff if you want. All my friends do."
I stared at her for a moment. Before this incident, we had hardly ever been in the same classroom, and now she was acting like we were friends.
"After all, if you're supposed to be my cousin, it'd be pretty weird if you didn't act friendly with me, ya know?" she continued.
"I...I guess you're right." I conceded.
"Great, then. Let's go in and get you set up." Tiffany said, running over to the front door. I followed her, still marveling at the size of her home. She opened the door and I followed her in.
"Welcome to case de Sanders." Tiffany said. "My parents are on vacation for the next few weeks, so we'll have the whole place to ourselves the whole time you're here."
"Well, that's good, I guess..." I said, looking around the house.
"Yeah. It's gonna be nice having someone else here..." she said, looking down. I looked at her for a moment, and felt sad for her. I had a feeling that she was looking forward to having me around for the week.
Tiffany then proceeded to take me on a tour of her home, and it was honestly more than I could really take in. I made special note of the kitchen, the bathroom, and when we finally made it there, the room where I would be staying.
"This is one of the nicer guest rooms." Tiffany said. "And, it happens to be across the hall from my room, so I'll be right there if ya need anything."
"Great." I said. "Especially helpful since I know I'm gonna end up getting lost."
"I doubt it'll take you too long to find your way around." Tiffany said.
I opened the door, and walked in and looked at what was now my temporary room. It was twice the size of my room back home, and had a king size bed and a big flat screen TV. I guessed maybe 40 or so inches.
"This is a guest room?" I asked, looking around.
"Yeah. My parents like to be prepared in case important people stop by, but that rarely happens." Tiffany said. "The TV has cable, by the way."
"Okay, I think I know where I'm spending the week." I said, sitting on the massive bed and taking the room in.
"No way." Tiffany said. "No cousin of mine is gonna hide away, even if you're not actually my cousin."
I nodded my head slowly, figuring that it wouldn't be that easy. "In any case, I'll give you some time to get settled in. Just come knock on my door when you're all set, and we can do something fun." Tiffany said, leaving the room and closing the door behind her.
I looked around the room, then down at myself and sighed.
