Karyn looked around, searching for someone who she could talk with. Suddenly, she had no desire to hang out with Jon. She felt like he was beneath her. She wasn't sure where these new feelings were coming from, but they felt right. And she always trusted her feelings.
Her search was over when she spotted her. It was Sarah McMillan. Funny, she never really held Sarah in much of a high regard before, but now she couldn't imagine herself not being friends with her. She was everything that Karyn wanted to be. Beautiful, popular, powerful. She briefly wondered why she had never wanted those things before, then began to approach Sarah, not realizing that (thanks to the bell) she was no longer the Sarah McMillan that she remembered. In fact, this Sarah was hanging out with the "church crowd", seemingly taking the place of that Bible-thumper girl Nadine Ferguson, who at the moment was nowhere to be seen.
"Hey, Sarah," Karyn said, smiling and waving to her as she approached.
