"Come on, Sarah," said Karyn. "We've been friends for at least four years."
"Ugh. I would never be friends with you. You're so ... tomboyish," Sarah said with distaste.
Karyn looked at her oddly. "What do you mean? You're just as much a tomboy as I am."
"What?" Sarah said, then turned and looked at herself in one of the hallway mirrors. She didn't look like a tomboy in the slightest. What was this girl talking about? Was she completely blind? Or was she seeing something that Sarah wasn't?
Suddenly, Sarah had a pounding headache that seemed to come from nowhere. And then it disappeared as quickly as it came.
"Are you okay?" Karyn asked.
Sarah looked up at her, then back at the mirror. She stared at her reflection. Everything about herself looked exactly the same as it had before, but now her long blond hair was short blond hair, and looking very boyish in its style. What had happened? Did her headache cause that? It didn't seem possible. But then again, none of this seemed possible, yet it was all happening.
"Is there something wrong, Sarah?" Karyn asked.
