Before going to his next class, Jon stopped off at his locker. Since the start of school that morning, he had kept the stone there, waiting for a chance to use it. And now he had one. His best friend Alan Sumner was in his next class, and he was going to take this opportunity to show him the stone. He supposed that maybe he should have waited until the end of the school day, but he was just too excited to wait that long.
On his way to class, he noticed Sarah McMillan and her three fat friends Robin, Lisa, and Stacy. They were walking through the hall, talking about fixing cars and taking boxing lessons. Jon had to stop for a moment. Were Sarah's friends always that fat? He had a feeling that they weren't, but that didn't make any sense. Sarah wouldn't hang out with girls who weren't as fat or manly as herself.
After Jon made it to his class, he immediately spotted Alan at the back of the room.
"Alan," Jon said, approaching him. "I've got something to show you."
"What is it?" he asked.
Jon took the stone out of his pocket and held it out to him. "It's a magic stone that grants wishes."
