It's not a "solve everything" pill, even because one cannot teach language overnight, but what if Anneza were to meet Lucas while passing through the Moon? Lucas - being skilled in Linguistics - could at least determine some linguistic parameters to her new language (such as being subject-verb-object) and maybe - MAYBE - help Anneza learn just a very little bit of English.
Mind, Lucas isn't a really good teacher (though she could at the very least be able to determine Anneza's language isn't from Earth plus some other characteristics, so that would help a competent teacher to get through to her), but I figured it would be one time when Lucas would help Anneza just a little (not solving "the entire" situation) and without much aid of her "powers", just her actual linguistic skills (yes I know Anneza's language isn't from Earth, but there are some ACTUAL ways around that; those ways are what allowed people to be able to grasp, say, Cherokee languages and so on) ;)
