Karyn rolled her eyes as yet another guy checked her out. Not even in the hospital for more than five minutes and she'd seen at least four guys not so subtly glue their eyes to her chest. This had been a regular occurrence since she'd made her foolish wish for blond hair and big boobs. As she walked onto the elevator to get to Jon's floor and saw the orderly bump into the wall as he goose-necked to stare at her, she decided to start investing in some sweaters.
Baggy sweaters.
She was glad to hear that Jon was doing better. When he'd fallen into the coma, she fell into a deep depression. Jon was her best friend! It felt like a hole had been cut into her heart every time she thought about life without him.
Karyn had spoken to Jon's mom just that morning, who had told her that Jon would be able to come home soon. That was really great news. She hoped to put all of this behind her as soon as possible and get back to her normal life, with her best friend at her side.
"Heya, Jon-boy!" she said from the doorway. She walked into the room and approached the bed. "The doctor says you'll be out soon. That's great news!" She peered closer at him, realizing that he was asleep. "Oops, sorry. I didn't know you were sleeping." On her way to Jon's room, one of the nurses told her that Jon was up and awake. Maybe he just now fell asleep. She shook his arm. "Jon, wake up." But he didn't. "Jon?" Her heart sank, realizing that he might not have been sleeping. He was still breathing, so he was still alive. But she feared that he might have lapsed into a come again. She pushed the nurse call button near the bed and watched as a dark-haired nurse came into the room. Karyn turned towards her. "I think there's something wrong," she said, panicking.
The nurse approached. "Not again," she said, then turned and left the room in a hurry.
"Do you know where Dr. Mitchell is?" the nurse asked Mary Robinson, as she rushed by.
"He's in examination room five, with Susan." She watched Phoebe rush by, getting concerned. "What's wrong?" she asked, standing up.
"The Everett boy is in a coma again," Phoebe yelled as she rushed down the hall.
