Jon stepped off the bus and looked around the parking lot. The mall was way busier than he had anticipated. It was usually packed on the weekends, but not like this. It's like no one was leaving...
"Hey, looks like it's a good thing you didn't drive here." Karyn said. "We would have never gotten a spot near the mall, anyway."
"Yeah, I suppose." Jon said. "Though, doesn't this seem a bit weird? I mean, it's really busy today..."
"Jon, you're being paranoid. It's probably just a big sale or something." Karyn said. "You know how sales bring out all the bargain hunters. Just think about Christmas time."
"I suppose your right." Jon said. "I just can't help but wonder what my wish did."
"Maybe it made a big sale? I mean, that could be interesting." Karyn said jokingly.
"Oh yeah, real interesting. Everyone, 20% off shoes for the next hour." Jon said sarcastically. "Somehow, I doubt we'll be that lucky."
"Don't be so pessimistic. It won't help you get anywhere in life." Karyn said, walking toward the mall.
"Oh, and what's optimism gonna get you?" Jon asked, following his friend.
"For one, a smoothie from the food court, on you." Karyn said slyly.
"Oh really now?" Jon asked. "And when did I agree to that?"
"How about we race, loser buys." Karyn suggested.
"Fine, I guess." Jon said, looking around a bit. "Go on three?" he asked, looking back at Karyn, only to see that she had already taken off running. "You cheater!" he yelled, quickly taking off after her.
By the time Jon reached the malls entrance, Karyn had already entered and gone beyond his sight. He sighed, figuring she had gone to the food court, and decided to head there as well. As he started in that direction, he saw Steve Farber being lead to a store by two incredibly attractive women. They each looked somewhat familiar, though Jon couldn't quite place where he knew them from, and only saw them from the side. Some guys have all the luck... Jon thought. Oh well, I have some smoothies to buy. he thought, pushing Steve Farber out of his mind.
