"Well, then. I wish the magician could not use the stone's powers," Jon said, smiling.
The look of shock on the magician's face was priceless. The stone dropped out of his hand and to the floor with a dull thud. But as quick as Jon was with his clever wish, the magician was quicker. He may not be able to use the stone, but he could at least keep Jon from using it.
Just as Jon bent down to grab the stone, the magician kicked it as hard as he could, sending it across the auditorium and into the seating area, somewhere on the floor, lost from view.
Then, as quickly as he could, the magician ran. He knew that the stone's power could only affect reality within a few miles of the person that uses it. So, he planned to get as far away as possible, as fast as he could, before Jon found the stone and used it on him.
