Later that evening, Karyn was going to arrive to study with Jon... only Jon wasn't exactly sure yet what he was going to tell her about Wendy, but he was leaning towards just telling the truth. He could trust her, after all.
"Hi, Jon," she said when Jon opened the door. "Hi, Wendi. Look, Jon, about that trig test, I heard that..."
"Karyn?" asked Jon.
"I said, about that trig test..."
"No, not that. You know Wendi. You can't know Wendi."
Karyn looked puzzled. "I don't understand," she said. Then she looked at Wendi. "Wendi, are you okay?"
"There's nothing wrong with me."
"You're lying on the bed staring into the ceiling with a vacant smile on your face. Something's wrong."
"Listen, Karyn," said Jon. "Could you get some drinks for all of us? I'm getting kind of thirsty."
"Okay," she answered hesitantly. Then, after taking one last glance at Wendi, she left to get drinks from the kitchen.
"What's going on?" asked Jon.
"Karyn is here."
"I mean, what's going on with her and you. You couldn't have met her. I changed you into a girl just now."
"That's beyond my knowledge, Jon."
Jon touched Wendi's hand and said "I wish you'd tell me."
"Thank you. When you wished for me to become a girl, you changed reality so I had always been one. If I had always been one, she remembers me as one. Also, if I had always been a girl, I wasn't with you this morning and you never made the wishes you made., so she doesn't remember you making any wishes."
"You mean my wishes are all reversed?"
"Not at all. They're still part of reality. The only difference is that now, even Karyn doesn't remember them."
"So she thinks her blonde hair and breasts are normal. Maybe I should wish her memory back. And why does she know your name?"
"Once reality was changed so that I had always been a girl, I must have had a name, too. Since I became a girl because of your wish, my name became the one you were most likely to pick. You did in fact pick that later when you got a chance."
"So Karyn and everyone else knows you as Wendi and has no idea about the wishes or the stone."
"That's right."
"Okay, then who are you?"
Wendi was about to answer, except that at that point Karyn had opened the door. "Who is she?" said Karyn. "Did she hit her head or something and forget who she is? Wendi is...."
