"Because I had a spell cast on me which keeps me from being affected by wishes," said Wendi. "It makes it hard if I ever want a wish cast on me, but it prevents certain problems."
"You know what?" said DeMorrell. "I'm not sure whether to believe you. But whether I believe you or not, I have to be sure, because getting things wrong could mean that everything I've created will come tumbling down. So I think I'm going to use a wish. I'll be down to 35 wishes, but it's still a lot better than the three you usually get in stories. I wish you'd explain to me who you are, why you're here, and what protections you have against me."
Wendi had no choice. "I'm really the wishing stone. A wish that turned me human worked too well and I need to go to the dig site and do a ritual so that touching me will grant wishes again. I have no protections against you specifically, but since I was wished to think like a normal girl, your mind control wish can't reverse that wish."
"Well, well," said DeMorrell. "I expected the wishing stone to be a little pebble, not something as shapely as you. I'm still not sure if you're telling the truth, but I think I can find out. Karyn, Jon, grab her."
Wendi ran away, but it was three against one, and by moving over to get the staff, she had stepped away from the door. It didn't take long at all for Karyn to get her in a hold.
"Now, Jon, get the handcuffs from the drawer under the bed and lock her hands up."
"You can't do this!" yelled Wendi.
"Of course I can," replied DeMorrell. "I wanted the wishing stone. I'm going to get the wishing stone if there's any truth at all in your story."
Jon and DeMorrell forced the handcuffs onto her hands as she struggled.
"Now, Jon, let's finish what we were doing." He pulled the female Jon into bed with him, while Karyn held Wendi.
When DeMorrell and Jon were finished, DeMorrell got up and started giving orders again. "Jon, you get dressed. Then we're taking Wendi here to the dig site. Oh, and tell me what the ritual is, in case I need to take something special."
"You just need to recite some words and sprinkle corn meal," said Jon. "I have some in my backpack."
"Excellent, my dear" said DeMorrell. He led the three of them, Wendi in handcuffs, outside, where he looked at a distant hill and touching them, teleported them all to the dig site.
"Jon, show me the instructions. You do have instructions, right?"
"Of course, master," said Jon, and took the paper out of her backpack.
DeMorrell led them down into the dig to the location described on the paper, sprinkled the corn meal, and read the words. He saw a flash of light come from Wendi.
"I wonder if that worked," he said. "Let me run my fingers through your hair." He ran his hands through Wendi's hair and said "I wish we were back in my office."
They reappeared in his office.
"Excellent again," he said. "As many wishes as I want. I wish that nobody except me could make wishes on you. I have some things to do."
But there were a few things DeMorrell didn't know.
First of all, Jon had wished that he could touch her to make wishes. So despite DeMorrell's wish that Jon couldn't make wishes on her, he still could.
Second, Wendi, being human now, could interpret wishes a little bit. She only had a split second to do it in, so wishes could still go wrong; but at least they would no longer go wrong when it was obvious what Jon meant. But while she could give Jon what he meant, she could do the opposite for DeMorrell. If he made a wish, and she was awake, and she thought of a way to twist it in time, she could.
"W-- what things do you have to do?" asked Wendi.
"I have to make some wishes that I wasn't going to do when I only had a few of them." Putting his hand down her blouse on her breasts, he said "First of all, I wish...."
