Eventually, they said their goodbyes. "And you have my approval to go out with Karyn or the wishing stone," said Jon's grandfather, laughing. Hugs and handshakes were exchanged all around.
Jon touched Wendi's hair and said "I wish we'd teleport home, in a lot of little jumps that are so fast it seems like one big teleport, and that the people there would think we took a plane back."
A flash of light, and then Jon, Karyn, and Wendi were all standing in Wendi's room, across the hall from Jon's.
"Well, that was unnecessary," said Jon.
"But we got to take a trip," said Wendi, "and I got to save everyone. Since I'm human now, there are a few more things I want to try. Hmm, Sarah McMillan..." Jon seemed about to say something and then she added, "Oh, just kidding." Jon wasn't sure if she really meant it, though.
The next day, though, they'd be back at school. Which, except that Wendi was human, was pretty much how everything had started....
