DeMorrell ordered, "grab my hand" and extended his. The three teens took his hand and he teleported himself somewhere.

As they rematerialized, Wendi looked around. There was a window and she could tell that she was in the same building complex, in one of the buildings. Unfortunately, she didn't know which one, and she had no map. The room itself was an office, obviously DeMorrell's, and there were two doors, one leading out and a smaller one probably leading to a closet or something similar.

"That's the transformation room," said DeMorrell, pointing to the second door. "I made it using a wish. Unfortunately, permanently transforming anyone could be troublesome. There are friends and families who would turn up if people just went missing. Eventually, the police would come, and I have better things to do than waste my time and money bribing the police."

"I understand, master," said Karyn.

"Still, I'd rather be surrounded by people who are pleasant to look at. You three come with me."

Wendi began to wonder. Could she use this room to transform into DeMorrell? If she did, then anyone who would obey him wouldn't know the difference. They could obey her. It would be a means of escape!

He opened the door, revealing a fairly small room, on the other side of which was an incongruous red spotlight embedded in the ceiling. "Jon, take off your backpack, then stand under that light," said DeMorrell.

Jon said "Yes, master," removed the pack and threw it aside, and walked over, so that his entire body was covered with eerie red light.

"This is Lucian DeMorrell," said the man.

"Voice print recognized," responded a mechanical voice from the area of the spotlight.

...Or maybe it wouldn't be a means of escape. How could she use the device to turn into DeMorrell if only DeMorrell could use it in the first place?

"Execute sex change transform 1," said DeMorrell. "Duration 7 days. I think we can go a week without you having to tell your family you're okay."

"Worse and worse," thought Wendi. If DeMorrell had to speak particular preprogrammed phrases, there's no way she'd know them ahead of time... The light suddenly changed color, and Jon was bathed in green. She watched as Jon's breasts pushed themselves out and his figure became somewhat shorter, and more hourglass shaped. His face got less rough, his stubble disappeared. Then the green light faded and the red light came on again. Jon had been changed to a girl, of course--just his body. The machine didn't seem to affect clothes, hair, jewelry, or makeup.

"Excellent," said DeMorrell. "I'd better order you: tighten your belt. Otherwise your pants might fall off. Then come over here and kiss me."

"Yes, master," replied Jon in her new higher-pitched voice. It sounded almost sexy.

DeMorrell embraced the new Jon and kissed her deeply. He reached for her breasts and fondled them, saying "It looks like you may be in for some shoulder trouble if you don't support those tits. Still, you're hot no matter what you're wearing, and when I look at you I want to see the same person I caught trespassing on my property. A makeover would ruin the effect.

He let go of Jon and then said "You three girls come with me. I have some plans."

Wendi followed along, but watched DeMorrell carefully out of the corner of her eye. If she could grab the staff, and if DeMorrell didn't wish that other people can't use the staff, and if Wendi's being the stone didn't interfere, she could save the two people who, now that she was human, she thought of as her friends. It would only take one wish. But she'd have to find exactly the right moment to take the staff and do it. Once she tried once, DeMorrell would know she didn't serve him; she'd have no second chance.
