"Where do you have to go?" asked Karyn.

"To the dig. In Peru. I said that already before you asked."

"Well, we both speak Spanish... though yours is better because you learned it from your grandfather. What about Wendi?"

"Of course I can," replied Wendi. "I can speak everything Jon could speak when he made the wish."

"I just hope these instructions are good," said Karyn. "The whole 'ask Grandpa' thing was a lucky guess."

"What do you mean, Karyn?"

"You said that the paper knew Wendi's name even though you just picked it, so the paper must understand you. But you only used the paper after making Wendi human. That wish could have changed reality and made the paper know the name."

"Hmm. It doesn't matter, it worked. You know what our biggest problem is? Money. Do you have the money for a trip to Peru? And time. We need to take some days off from school. And telling our parents where we're going. We can't very well saying we're going to Peru to get Wendi to grant wishes."

"You could try the luggage again?" suggested Karyn.

"What?"

"I know your Grandpa didn't really do it. But it's just as if he did. So if he sent you Wendi expecting you to fix her... uh, I mean help her... he must have known you needed plane tickets and all that. He'd have given you them."

Just then, Jon's mother passed by. "What are you doing, kids? You'd better get that stuff up to Wendi's room."

"I have a room?" asked Wendi.

"I have the greatest respect for Dad. He's done so many impossible things, so many things that couldn't possibly make sense but did... if he dies and sends over a girl and tells me to give her a room, she gets a room. I've already cleared out the boxes and stuff and put them in the attic, so you can use it."

"Wow, Jon" said Wendi after Jon's mother led them to the empty room. "So your grandpa used me to impress your mom enough that she'd do whatever he asked... maybe he even wished she'd never question his reasons. I don't really remember if he did that."

Wendi got out the clothes from the suitcase. There were only four changes of clothes, and an extra sweater, all of which she put aside but didn't hang up.

"There's nothing here," said Wendi.

"Wait, what about that?" asked Jon, pointing to a bulge in the bottom. "There's a zipper there."

They opened it up and found no tickets, but they did have passports and three bank cards, one in Jon's name, one in Wendi's, and one in Jon's grandfather's name. There was also a prewritten note to the school explaining that he willed a lot of money to the school (it was a private school) under the condition that Jon and anyone he chooses come to Peru.

The school gladly gave Jon and Karyn excused absences, and Karyn's parents and Jon's mother agreed to let them go. There was one problem: Jon's and Wendi's bank cards didn't work. Of course, the bank cards were created by a wish and the bank's computers weren't in the range of the wish, so there was no bank account to go with the cards. Jon's grandfather must have had a real account, though, and his card, though a wish-created spare, worked fine.

The next step was a couple of emails and overseas phone calls to be sure that Jon, Karyn, and Wendi would be welcome in Peru at the dig. They hadn't heard of Wendi (after all, Jon's grandfather wasn't really the one who made her human) but were quite willing to let Jon and his friends come.

After a trip to the mall to get some things they needed, Jon, Karyn, and Wendi packed their suitcases (Wendi just put her clothes back in), Jon's mother drove them to the airport, and the trip had begun.

"Look at all that ground out there," said Karyn.

"I've never seen the ground from an airplane," said Wendi. "I've never been on an airplane before!"

"That's because you've only been around as a human for a few days," said Jon.

"Careful," said Karyn. "If we talk about this in public people will think we're weird."

"Have you ever been to Peru, Jon?" asked Wendi.

"No... I bought a guidebook at the mall, but there's only so much it'll help. About all I know about it is Inca Cola. And that it's pretty far away. We've got a long trip ahead of us.... though I'm sure you could get us back faster once we're done, right, Wendi? Even if you have to do a lot of little teleports instead of one big one."

She smiled at Jon. "Sure."

"I wonder what we're going to find at the dig," said Karyn.

EDIT: The bank cards must also be credit cards, otherwise it's hard to buy three tickets to Peru (withdrawing money and buying them with cash is a bad idea)
Karyn must have had a good passport by sheer luck, since there wasn't one for her in the suitcase.
