From the side of the came the answer to the knock “Come in.” Tom opened the door to see his sister dressed in a boys' uniform. However this time it seemed to fit her better than the one she had been wearing the day before.
Her hair was tied in a low sitting ponytail that looked so much like the way he normally wore his hair. “What’s with the outfit sis? He asked her. “Mom told me this morning that as long as you are wearing that uniform I have to wear this one. She replied to her brother while pointing at his clothes. Susan looked at her brother once again and beckoned him over to a seat at her vanity. “It looks like we are both in the same boat today."
"Here let me help you with your hair.” She said with a smile on her face that Tom took as kindness. He took the seat and Susan reached into a small container sitting to the side of the mirror and pulled out a hair tie. She pulled Tom’s hair into a ponytail and by the time she had finished with it she had put it into a style that closely resembled how she normally wore her hair for school.
“Time to face your face.” She said leaving Tom a little confused. The confusion eased when she reached for makeup and started to put it on to his face. Yesterday he would have stopped her but he had found out that the makeup acted like a barrier and stopped people from seeing who he was. “Thanks, Sis.” He said genuinely thanking her. “Here put these on its cold out there this morning. I will find you a pair of shoes.” Susan said to her brother while passing him what looked like a small black ball. It took Tom a second or two to realize that she had handed him a pair of tights. He thought about giving her them back. However, he remembered that she had said it was going to be cold this morning and he thought back to yesterday and how cold he was then on what was a normal autumn day. So he took them and carefully put them on. As he pulled them up he was reminded of his new underwear which he did not want Susan to see. No matter how nice she was being she would not be able to resist making a joke about them.
“Here they are. I knew I had them somewhere.” Susan said turning around and handing Tom a pair of her black school shoes. He put them on and stood up next to his sister. “This whole thing is so weird,” he said turning towards the full-size mirror that was on the back of Susan’s bedroom door. If you didn’t know you would think that she was the boy and I was the girl. He thought to himself while looking at the expression on his sisters’ face seeing that she was thinking the same thing.
“Kids, Breakfast is ready.” Came their mother's voice from the kitchen downstairs. They both turned to each other and walked out of the bedroom and down to the kitchen.
