James had had a long day at work and just needed to get out of the house and take a walk to clear his mind. He was really sick of his job and the constant repetition of working in an office, doing the same thing everyday depressed him. He really felt like he needed a change, but couldn't bring himself to just quit a good paying job, especially since he knew he would probably never see Karen again if he did. She was the only cool thing about working in the office. She was so beautiful and there was a strong attraction between the two of them, but she unfortunately was married and so neither of them ever acted on their feelings.
"I wish there was some way I could be with Karen." James thought as he walked through the park. "Maybe I should just quit my job and move on, there is so much more I could do with my life. I always wanted to get in to a line of work where I could make some real money, maybe that's what I should be doing."
James was walking along when his shoelace came untied, so he put his foot up on a hollowed out tree trunk to tie the lace. He finished and was about to continue walking when saw something wrapped in a piece of paper in the stump. Reaching down he pulled out the stone and the instructions. He read the note and smiled.
"Some kid out there really has an imagination." He thought as he walked away still reading the rest of the note. "Wow the rules to this 'wishing stone' sounds kind of dangerous. You'd really have to think things out before you made a wish, since you could really be stuck with some bad consequences if you didn't. Let's see." He said holding the stone, "I wish I had three one hundred dollar bills in the pocket of my pants."
He felt his eyes suddenly flutter. He stopped surprised and then slowly reached into his pants pocket. "I don't believe it, it worked!" James said astonished. Without another thought he quickly hurried home.
"I can wish for anything in the world and its mine. This is unbelievable!" James said excitedly. Instantly he thought of wishing for Karen, but stopped himself. "That might be to much to soon, maybe I should experiment with the stone first so I can figure out what I can really do with it, but being with Karen is very tempting." James said in a near mantic state of excitement as he thought of all of the possibilities.
"Let's see, what to wish for first?"
