The Wanderer finally arrived at the school just as the bus was unloading its passengers. He'd had no choice but to ask one of the neighbors for directions to the school so he could once again teleport to his destination. The constant use of high level magic was beginning to tire him out.
But, there he was. The owner of the Stone. And he had a friend with him.
Jon had just handed the stone to Karyn so she could think up a way to reverse her accidental wish when a black blur interceded. When it dissappeared, the Stone was gone!
"Finally!" Exclaimed a nearby voice he didn't recognize.
"Let me tell you, you led me on a bit of a chase kid, but no hard feelings. Your little friend here's done me a hell of a favor." The voice seemed to belong to a tall man in dark clothing who had appeared behind the two of them, his arms around their shoulders in a familiar fashion.
"What the...who the hell are you?" Karyn exclaimed. Jon remained silent.
"Oh, no one important. Well, except to you two, of course. Let me tell you, I've been looking for this thing for awhile. I've got big plans for this little rock. But first I've got to thank you for-"
Jon suddenly wrenched out of his grip and kicked him with all his might. There was a bright flash, and his leg promptly fell off.
The man laughed as Jon stared at it in horror. His leg ended at the knee. As in, really ended. There was no blood, no wound. The other half of his leg had simply detached and lay impotently next to him. Karyn screamed and charged at the man, but was thrown back by an unseen force. (albeit intact, unlike Jon) Oddly, no one seemed to notice anything out of the ordinary, and most of the students were already inside the school.
"Sorry. I can fix that right up." The man said. There was another of those bright flashes and Jon looked down to see his leg was whole again. "Funny thing is, that sort of shit used to tire me out. I'd get a huge magic hangover the next day and everything."
"What do you want?" Jon asked helplessly.
"Oh. Right. As I was saying, I've got some big plans for this thing, but first I want to thank you for handing this to me." He smiled. "We're going to play a little game."
