"Well then time to head out. You guys still got some work to do around camp and being part of these little experiments doesn't excuse you from them." -May commanded though it was met by protests from the group.
"What about these notes can I take some to try to decipher?" Sarah said.
"Yea this place is a mess still cant we just stay and try fix it up and learn more?" Maddie pleaded.
"As much as I want that I need you guys to still be the campers you're supposed to be. You start missing activities, meals, and duties around camp and either people start asking to many questions or the boss is gonna have my ass. So get moving. Besides I'm already gonna be late to a staff meeting cause of you guys." May responded and this time the group shuffled out the exit to the lab. Though on their way through the hallway a bright green light passed over them twice and then disappeared once again.
"What was that!?" David questioned.
"Yea idk either. Only happens when I leave the lab not when I go in... kind of just put it on the list of things I'll figure out eventually." May answered as the group started climbing the ladder up to the condemned cabin. They grabbed their supplies and headed towards the Mess Hall.
"Are people really not gonna notice... you know that I'm not white anymore? Or question that my sister still is and has gone through a growth spurt over the course of a couple hours, Or that you are an Amazon now?" Maddie asked.
"Pretty sure. One of the past times I used the pods I went out with hair about an inch long. Nobody batted an eye. The only questions I got were from some people asking why I practically buzz cut my hair but it was with the knowledge that I was normal for me to always have it that way." May answered.
"That's crazy... So people are gonna just assume that I've always been this short! That sucks." David complained
"Well I gotta go to my meeting. Stay out of trouble! I'm serious you kids make this more of a hassle I'll have your parents here to pick you up in no time." and with that final warning May quickly walked away towards the staff cabins. They group stood in circle for a moment just looking at each other. Then all at once they started speaking.
"This can't be real!"
"OH MY GOD LOOK AT US!"
"Everything feels funny."
"I AM SO SHORT! FUCK THIS!"
"My tits are huge now, and my mind feels so weird. I don't like it sis."
"OK GUYS GET IT TOGETHER!" Tim shouted to cut through the noise. "This is crazy but it's real, amazing really, but May is right we gotta keep this secret. Nobody talks about the cabin to anyone else OK. I'm sure it's gonna be impossible for us not to act like nothing is wrong or different but do your best around others and the first step for that is we gotta do whatever we were supposed to be doing. Make it to meals, make it to activities, make it to our cabin at night. Sound good to everyone?" Tim said as everyone nodded in agreement. "Alright the first step in that is gonna be doing our assignment. So girls go mark the poison Ivy and me and David will go get the firewood. We meet back here at meal time." The group once again nodded and David joined Tim.
"Wow man good job getting everyone under control. No offense but I didn't peg you as the type to take action." David commented to Tim.
"Yea that's cause I'm usually not. It's a lot easier when you're not second guessing yourself. Though this defiantly can't be easy for Jenny we need to swap back sooner than later there. "
"I guess that's a good point... Hey this looks like a good sized log for the base of the fire." David said as he bent over to pick it up.
"You need help with it?"
"Nah one this size shouldn't be that much of a problem for me."
"You sure?" Tim said as David only got it a foot off the ground before dropping it.
"Man it's a lot heavier than I thought."
"I don't think you are quite as strong as you think... not anymore at least."
"Right....." David responded looking up at the boy he had recently thought was quite short. "Man I hope we switch back soon."
