Smiling sarcastically at her former brother, Zoe stood up and placed her bowl in the sink. Slinging her messenger back over her shoulder, she walked out the front door, making sure to give Karyn a goodbye wave on her way out.
Jon turned to Karyn and gave her a look of dread. "This was a terrible idea," he said.
Karyn just shrugged her friend off. "You got us into this mess. No use crying over it now." She poured herself a bowl of Lucky Charms using the milk and cereal Zoe had left out on the table. She was midway through her second spoonful before she looked back up at Jon.
"Well," she said, "go get ready for school. We've got a math test today that I don't plan on missing."
Jon began to protest but Karyn would have none of it. After she had waved him off for the third time, he decided to make the most of his time getting ready for school. He'd just have to wait to see what the effects of Zoe's last change would be later.
