"I wish that only for the next 24 hours there would be an earthquake and that after the 24 hours are over everything would return to normal like it is right now."
The stone glowed as his wish was granted.
Suddenly, the house began shake. Violently. It got so bad that Jon rolled under his bed to protect himself from his furniture toppling over. After a few minutes, he opened his eyes.
"My god! What have I done?" Jon said. He looked out his window at the destruction the massive earthquake had caused his neighborhood. At least, it used to be his window. Now it was just a giant hole in the wall. Jon lived in a place that had never gotten earthquakes. So, the buildings weren't sturdy enough to withstand them. Nearly all of the houses had major damage. Some houses were just big piles of debris.
Maybe an earthquake was the wrong thing to wish for. What if people got hurt or even died from it? Jon knew that everything would return to normal after the 24 hours, but he still felt guilty that he caused all of this death and destruction.
