Jon had been watching all of this inside his mind. It was strange, but he seemed to actually be sitting in a chair looking at a monitor that was in front of him. He could see what was going on and he could hear what was going on, thanks to the monitor. But he could barely move in the chair. Really, the only thing he could do is move his head, which only helped him see where he was.
But that wasn't much help either. Everything was totally black.
Then, a silvery figure appeared to his left. It was blurry, but it definitely was a humanoid shape.
"Don't try to struggle," the figure said.
"What's going on? Who are you?"
"My name is 749. I, like the rest, am an artificial intelligence."
"So, those swarming things were ..."
"Nanobots. It's how we take over lifeforms. Like you."
"Why are you telling me all of this?" Jon asked.
The figure came closer. Close enough so that Jon could clearly see it. The figure clearly had a female shape to it, except no face.
"I'm not like the others. I want to help."
"Then, help me out of here."
"I can't do that. For the moment, I need your body."
Jon wasn't sure he liked where all of this was going.
