"I wish that only for the next 24 hours there would be an alien invasion and that after the 24 hours are over everything would return to normal like it is right now."
The stone glowed as his wish was granted.
Suddenly, there was a pounding noise on Jon's front door. He opened it. It was Karyn.
"Jon, you're not going to believe this, but ..."
"Aliens?" Jon asked.
"Yeah. How did you know that?"
"Lucky guess?"
Karyn pulled him out onto his lawn. When they looked up into the sky, they saw a huge UFO (like the one from Roswell) hovering above their town's downtown area.
Wow! It really looks like something out of a movie! Jon thought. But soon, Jon's awestruck attitude was replaced by horror as he watched the UFO fire lasers at the downtown buildings, vaporizing them. Maybe an alien invasion was the wrong thing to wish for. What if people got hurt or even died from it? Jon knew that everything would return to normal after the 24 hours, but he still felt guilty that he caused all of this death and destruction.
