Zoe walked into the kitchen to grab something to eat. Memories of that day's events kept repeating in her mind. Everything seemed to be going fine all the way up until Jay asked her on a date. Well, actually, he said that she asked him on a date, but she didn't remember saying anything remotely like that. She felt embarrassed. Not because of the idea of it, though. She really liked Jay, a lot. But asking her out at the convention ... in front of everyone ... it just wasn't private enough for her.
As she opened the refrigerator, she heard knocking on the front door. She turned and walked out of the kitchen.
"Open up, you little twerp!" she heard someone yelling from outside. Then the knocking turned into pounding.
Zoe opened the door, against better judgment. "What do you want?!" she squealed.
Karyn stopped dead and stared at Zoe. This was the first time she was able to see Zoe with her new persona. It was jarring, seeing Jon's sister as a geek.
"Well?" Zoe asked the pregnant girl. She noticed that she looked a lot like Karyn Black, the head cheerleader at the high school, but it couldn't have been her. Karyn wasn't pregnant.
"Jon. Where is he?"
"I don't know. Maybe he's at his friend's house."
"What friend?"
"Sarah. Sarah McMillan."
As Karyn turned and walked away from the house, Zoe shut the door.
"Is he in there?" Biff asked.
"No. He's at Sarah McMillan's house." It was so weird for Karyn to hear herself say that. Jon had never been to Sarah's house, for obvious reasons, but this was a new reality, one where Sarah was a friend and Karyn was a spoiled bitch. For the first time since she had sex with Biff, Karyn had a clear head about what was happening. It was as if she got a splash of cold water, seeing Zoe and hearing that Jon was friends with Sarah.
But that splash of cold water didn't last. She could feel her bitchy personality creeping back into her mind. And soon, she'd be just as much of a spoiled brat as Sarah McMillan used to be.
