Karyn walked out to the street and saw a white compact car filled with teens. As she got closer, she recognized them. One was Jay Duncan, who was in her house just before. The others included Gladys Brewer (an overweight girl with curly brown hair and glasses), Leonard Drullers (an overweight and unshaven nerdy boy, who Karyn knew was into sci-fi and comics), and Dorothy Miller (a thin geeky girl, who Karyn knew was a big Star Wars fan). Geek Karyn wasn't really into Star Wars, so the two girls usually got into debates about which was better: Star Trek or Star Wars. Regardless, they were still friends.
Karyn got into the car and Jay drove out onto the road. Off they went to the Sci-Fi Convention.
