"Ms. Leeson. What did I tell you about chewing gum in my class?" the teacher asked.
Kyla made an annoyed expression, then took the gum out of her mouth and rolled her eyes.
"That's better. Now, where was I? Oh, yes, that's right. Sines, cosines, and tangents ..."
Jon usually would be watching Mrs. Watson teach, but today his eyes were on Kyla and Karyn. He was amazed at their obviously different mannerisms. Well, obvious to him. To everyone else, they were acting normal.
When Mrs. Watson asked a question, Karyn was the first one raising her hand to answer it. Kyla just looked like she wanted to be somewhere else, probably shopping at the mall with her cheerleader friends and not sitting in this stupid boring class.
When the class was over, Kyla stood up and said "Finally." She left the classroom with the other kids, leaving Jon standing there watching. Karyn was one of the last to leave.
"Karyn?" Jon asked.
She turned around. She sniffled. "Um ... yeah?"
Jon wanted to talk to her. But he decided not to. He made the wish so he would only observe, not interact. "Nothing."
"Oh," she said, again shyly. She turned around and left the room.
Jon made his wish at 6 PM the previous day, so that meant that the next personality swap would be 6 PM that day, roughly ten hours away. This version of Karyn wouldn't remember anything from this reality after the swap happened, so there was no reason to try to become friends with her. He'd have his own normal Karyn back in a week anyway.
