Jon rarely visited Leonard, even though he lived right next door. But Jon knew his mother well enough, mostly from mowing her yard in the summer when he needed a little extra cash.
"Hi, Jon," Mrs. Drullers said, cheerfully. "Uh, I don't need your help in the yard today."
"Actually, I came to see Leonard."
"Oh?" she asked. "Why do you want to see my son?"
It was a question that he couldn't answer. Not without sounding loony, anyways.
"Never mind," Jon said. He supposed he could just wait until the next day at school to see Leonard's change.
"Jon, it's no problem," she said. "Come right in. I believe he's in his room."
Jon walked inside and towards Leonard's bedroom, after Mrs. Drullers pointed out which room it was.
