"Uh ... Dad?" Jon said.
"Oh, please. I told you before. Just call me Jim. That's my name, you know."
"I can't call you that. You're my father."
Jim shrugged. "Okay, whatever." He plopped down on Jon's bed and playfully tossed the stone in his hand. "So, did you want to go to the mall or what?"
"Actually, I think I just want to stay here tonight."
"That's cool too," Jim said.
"Um ... Dad. Maybe we should fix your accidental wish now."
"I've been thinking about that and I've decided to keep them."
"What?"
"I know it sounds a little strange, I suppose, but I discovered that I like having breasts. They make me feel more ... feminine."
"You like feeling feminine?" Jon couldn't believe what he was hearing.
"Well, yeah, actually. And, you know, I was thinking of turning myself into a woman, with the stone. But I wanted to talk with you about it first."
"Well, obviously the answer is no," Jon said. He couldn't believe that he had to talk his own father out of wanting to become a woman. Was this version of his dad gay or something?
Jim frowned. "I thought you'd be more understanding, Jon."
"Dad, the stone changes reality. If you turned yourself into a woman, it would be as if you were always a woman."
"And what's wrong with that?"
"Did you ever stop to think that if you were a woman, me and Zoe and Mikey would never be born?"
Jim looked thoughtful for a moment. "I never thought about that."
Jon nodded, satisfied that he talked his father out of it.
But then, his dad said "But I'm sure we can come up with a wish to get around that."
Jon groaned.
