After a few minutes of quiet dinner, Zoe finally made her way downstairs. Looking up from her chicken and smirking (Jon noticed his mom was eating a salad that his father had picked up for her), she said "Oh, here comes the freak show. So glad you could finally join us."
Jon's eyes went wide as he gave his mom a stare. Surprisingly enough, Zoe just shot her a look and then sat down at the table quietly. "Maybe it won't be as bad as I thought," he thought to himself quietly.
But he spoke (or is it thought?) too soon.
After finishing her first piece of chicken, Zoe grabbed a second one out of the family bucket. Their mother noticed this and with another sly smile said "Jeez Zoe, going to eat the whole bucket? Is the 'fat tub' look 'in' this year for freaks?"
This was the boling point, it seemed. But judging by the groaning "not again" look Jon saw on his father's face, Jon figured that this was a common occurance in their bitch-mom household. Zoe shot back. "Fuck you, Linda!," she snapped loudly, calling their mother by her first name.
"Hey, you can't talk to me like that, you freak! You're grounded!" her mom yelled back, suddenly going from smug to angry, and then quickly back to smug as she tacked on a punishment. She seemed to be enjoying this.
"What the fuck ever, you anorexic bitch! I was already grounded anyways!" Zoe said, storming off to her room.
For a second Jon's mom looked like she was about to explode (in fact, Jon had braced himself by gripping the edge of the table), but then she suddenly regained her composure. Putting on Sarah's trademark smirk again, she went back to finishing her salad.
"God, it's such a shame," she said to no one in particular, "she could be sooo cute if she just stopped eating like a pig and started dressing like a normal person. You know Jon," she said, turning to him. "you could be really cute too if you just started working out more. You should go out for the football team." And she shot him a wink that immediately made things akward.
Jon supposed this was what passed for motherly concern and advice in his new wished-up househould and decided that his wish had been a bad idea. He made a mental note to be nicer to Zoe for a while and wondered if things would be better at school. After all, there had to be some kind of trade-off, right?
