Jon followed Zoe up to the upstairs hallway.
"Uh, Zoe. Odd question, but how long has Mom been like this?"
"She's always been like this," she said, as if it was common knowledge. She went into her room and slammed the door in Jon's face. A moment later, heavy metal music blasted from her room.
Okay. I guess I'm not getting any answers there, Jon thought.
He went to his room, but then changed his mind and went to visit his mom.
