Mikey opened his door. It was a Goth girl that used to be Zoe's friend.
"Hey, Mikey. Doing anything important?" the girl asked.
"Athena," Mikey whined. "Don't call me that. It sounds so dorky."
"Look, Mikey, you're a kid," she said. "I like your taste in music and I think you have a lot of potential and I like your personality but there's really only so much you can do with us."
"I know," said Mikey. "I was just talking to this girl online. Everyone treats me online like I was your age. But not in the real world. Dammit, I want to be one of you!"
"Hmm," said Athena. "I have a cousin about your age, and he idolizes me. Maybe you two can get together at the party and be friends."
As the to talked, Jon realized: Mikey liked the same things that Zoe once liked and took the same attitude that she did--but other people wouldn't treat a ten year old boy who dresses and acts like Zoe, as if he was Zoe.
"I wish," whispered Jon, "that I was outside this room, and invisible for the next half hour."
A moment later, and Jon appeared in the hallway. He walked up to Zoe's room, wondering what her room looked like, and how people would treat a sixteen year old girl who acted like Mikey did.
