Jon decided he could just wait it out. He wished himself up a couple of videogames and spent most of the evening enjoying his newfound ability to have instant gratification. Dinner that night was a riot, with Mikey acting like a spoiled teenage girl and running off to answer the phone every five minutes. Even funnier was the way that Zoe seemed to react to Mikey now, with his being everything that Zoe hated. She had a weird kind of jealously/disgust mix going on with her younger brother, of all people.
The next morning, Jon decided to skip his standard wake up routine by wishing himself showered and shaven. He dressed in his usual t-shirt and jeans ensemble, put the stone away in the front pouch of his backpack, and swaggered out the door to catch the bus. It was going to be a good day.
He was greeted at the bus stop by his neighbor Karyn's familiar pretty face.
"In a good mood are we?," she asked him.
"Yep. Things are looking up," he replied to her with a smile.
"Ha ha, I bet," she laughed. "Make any new wishes last night?"
"I did," he said, "but you probably won't notice what they were."
"Care to clue me in?"
"Maybe. Let's say that one of them affects your worst enemy."
"Who's that?"
"What do you mean, who's that? You complain about her every day!"
"Nicole? She's not that bad. I mean, she's a bit of a bitch, but I think we've always been friends since you wished me up the blonde hair and larger breasts."
"No, I mean Sarah!" Jon said, exasperatedly.
"What, are you crazy?" Karyn asked. "Sarah and I have never been enemies. She's really immature and weird, but she's not my enemy. She's pretty nice, all things considered."
"Oh, right," Jon said, slapping his forehead. "You're not enemies anymore because her personality has always been that way."
"What do you mean?" Karyn asked.
"Well..." Jon started to explain as the bus rolled up to the stop.
