Jon felt his world ripple around him as he closed his eyes briefly. When he opened them, he saw that his room had changed drastically. He had never seen Athena's bedroom, but he was sure that it probably looked a lot like this. Black walls, black bed sheets, black furniture, black curtains. Everything seemed to be black. Then there were the books. There were shelves of them. He took one and looked at it. It was an old book written in something like Latin. In fact, a lot of the books were like that.
In his new full-length mirror, he was able to get a good look at himself. He was lankier and paler than he used to be and his brown hair had grown to shoulder-length. He was wearing a black sweater, a pair of black jeans, and black boots. It surprised him. Given how Athena usually dressed (gothic dress and corset - that sort of thing), Jon figured that he would be wearing something a bit more unorthodox. But really, he looked like over half the people from school, except for maybe the longer-than-normal hair and pale skin.
He reached for the stone, but suddenly realized that it was gone. Where did he put it down? He couldn't remember. Then he wondered if he even put it down at all. Perhaps reality had changed so that Jon never inherited the stone.
But why wouldn't his grandfather give it to him? Was Jon really that untrustworthy in this new reality?
