A brisk wind blew past Jon and he was forced to close his eyes. When he opened them, he saw that his bedroom had definitely changed.
What used to be a somewhat organized room was now tattered and messy, with clothes strewn about. And his furniture looked old and worn, not like the new furniture he had before he made his wish. There was a small TV, but no video games or movies. There wasn't even a computer. And his wallpaper was peeling. How could he live in this place?
He walked to his mirror and looked at himself. He wore a tight T-shirt, skin-tight jeans with a studded belt, and a pair of worn canvas sneakers. And on his hands were fingerless black and white striped gloves. His body was lanky and pale. And his brown hair had grown considerably longer. In the front, it fell down across his face (blocking his left eye and his nose) and in the back, it stuck up. And around his eyes, he wore black eyeliner. It was all the typical emo look that Derek Lettman had. And now Jon had it.
He sat down on his tattered bed and suddenly felt bored ... and depressed. He remembered that Derek had no friends, and judging by the lack of photos around the room, Jon figured that he had no friends now either.
He suddenly thought about Karyn. If he had switched with Derek, did that mean that Derek was Karyn's best friend and not Jon? Thinking that he had lost a friend, Jon began to cry. He had never felt this emotional before. Was this how Derek always felt?
Jon wasn't sure he could stand this. He almost thought about wishing this reality away, but he remembered that he made it clear in his wish that he would remain this way for seven days.
Suddenly, he felt like crying again.
