Sarah looked up from her fashion magazine and watched as that dork Jay Duncan ran out of the lab room, then out of the building. "Where's he going in such a hurry?" she muttered to herself.
"Sarah McMillan," she heard the doctor say. "It's your turn."
Groaning, she put down her magazine and headed into the laboratory. Once inside, she saw Amber (one of her fellow cheerleaders) standing at the side of the room. She saw her entering the room moments earlier with Jay.
"Did you already go through the process?" Sarah asked her.
"Yeah," Amber answered.
"Then what are you still doing here? I thought we decided to head to the mall afterward."
"I wanted to stay and observe. It's a fascinating process."
Sarah looked at her funny. "Amber, are you okay? You sound strange." In fact, she sounded smart. Which was weird, because she was one of the biggest bimbos in school.
Amber shrugged. "I think so. I mean, I feel a little more clear-minded, but other than that ..."
"Okay, enough talk," the doctor said. "Let's get you strapped in."
