Karyn walked into the experimentation room and was told to sit down in one of the chairs. After she did, the doctor strapped her in.
"Are these restraints necessary?" Karyn asked.
"Well, the electric jolt can sometimes ..."
"Electric jolt? No one said anything about that."
"Miss Black. I assure you. It's completely harmless. Well, except for the intended result."
"Don't remind me," Karyn said, bitterly.
The doctor looked at her. "You did volunteer for this, right?"
"Yeah, but no one ever said who I'm swapping with."
"That's part of the experiment. We don't want our patients preparing themselves."
Karyn looked over at the empty chair to her left, wondering who the other patient could be. Whoever it was, they were obviously late. Or perhaps they thought over what the experiment was about and got cold feet.
Just as Karyn had that thought, however, the door to the lab opened and in walked ...
