"Karyn, hard pass. I want to be me. The rock can just suck it."
"I figured you'd say that, but I wanted to run the idea by you. I just feel like we are some fish trying to swim upstream, ya know?"
"I know what you mean, but we can't give up. Let's just get the clothing this afternoon and go from there."
Karyn and Jon went back to classes. Fortunately, the afternoon went quickly. It was also fortunate, that no one cared that Jon was in girl clothing or that he used the stall when going to the bathroom. It was as if they just kind of forgot the events happened. Their memories going out like water flowing out of a sieve.
Jon and Karyn walked to the mall form school. They chatted about their math homework, movies coming out and the need for Steve to get less tight pants. It was only after a moment that Jon realized that he noticed the tight pants.
"I think I'm still kind of attracted to boys. I thought it was only Biff."
"Girls usually like boys."
"Well, I'm not a girl."
Jon took out the rock "I wish I wasn't attracted to boys." Zoe heard the wish : Granted, Jon isn't attracted to boys, but still may be attracted to men.
Jon felt the rock get warm and felt better. "That should take care of that."
They got to the mall, and went to Target for clothing. It was only then that Jon realized that he didn't have his wallet.
"I must have forgotten it this morning. Shucks, now I can't buy the clothing."
"I can spot you, if you want Jon."
"Or, I can use my special toy. I wish my wallet was here." Zoe heard the wish : Granted, but it is in his cute purse with some makeup and a fancy new smartphone.
Jon felt a weight over his left shoulder, and saw the purse.
"Huh?"
"Well, Jon, I guess the rock felt your pockets weren't big enough, so it made do."
Jon opened the purse. He showed Karyn the contents, she whistled at the phone. Jon tried to put the stuff in his pockets. He had space for 2 of the 3 items he wanted to keep; the rock, the phone and his wallet. He left the makeup and purse on a shelf. He ended up giving the rock to Karyn to hold, she put it in her pocket. They wandered the aisles, picking various items for Jon. Boxers, shorts, pants, shirts and a hoodie. Karyn grabbed a couple items for herself. They went up to the register and the items were starting to get rung up.
"It'll be nice to finally have some guy clothing at home."
"The clothing you are wearing seems pretty nice to me."
"I guess it is nice, but not what I want to wear."
"That'll be $120.94 for everything."
Jon looked at his wallet, and he was about $80 short. He looked up at Karyn, who looked at him and shook her head. They took back the clothing.
"Shucks, that was expensive. I'll have to pick and chose," said Jon. He took out the hoodle and shorts. He put back a pack of boxers and all but two shirts. He kept one pair of jeans. They went up to try again. The total was $35.81. Jon took out $40 and gave it to the cashier. He looked at it, and waved over another cashier. They spoke a bit and turned to Jon
"I'm sorry sir, but we think they are counterfit. Do you know where you got them?"
"My parents gave them to me, as part of my allowance. Can I use them ?"
"Sorry sir, but no."
Karyn put her money out.
"This should cover it, right?"
"Yes ma'am."
"Thanks Karyn, I owe you."
"You sure do, you own me $35.81 but interest," joked Karyn.
The two walked back to Jon's house and up to his room. When Karyn was in the bathroom, Jon put on his boxers, pants and a shirt. He changed back into his male self.
"Looking good, Jon-boy. Ready to do some homework?"
The two did homework until dinner was ready. Zoe looked at Jon intermittently throughout dinner, it was a little unnerving. The family talked about shows and plans for the weekend. Mikey was especially excited for his boy scout camping trip. After dinner, Karyn started to walk home after saying goodbye to the Jones. Only after she got home did she put her hands in her pockets and felt the stone.
"Uh oh. This should be at Jon's house. I'll have to give it to him in the morning." Karyn texted Jon that she had the stone still, and she would give it to him on the bus. Karyn unlocked her door and shouted "I'm home." She went into the kitchen to get some water, and her mom came in.
"How're the Jones doing?" asked her mom while she was having some red wine with the evening news..
"Doing well, Mikey is all excited about his camping trip. Jon and I finished out homework before we ate. They made some really tasty fish tacos. Maybe we can get the recipe."
"Sounds healthy., I'll as Rachel about it," said Karyn's mom as she tucked her blonde hair behind her ear and putting her wine glass on the island, "Jon's lucky to have a friend like you. You two are so close."
"We are. 'Thick as thieves' as you say mom"
"Any chance of...anything else?"
"Mom, I've told you so many times, our relationship isn't like that. I feel he's like a brother."
"OK OK, Just asking," said Karyn's mom throwing up her hands, but unfortunately spilling her wine glass and spilling it all over Karyn.
"Sorry Karyn."
"It's ok mom, I'll go get changed." Karyn went to her room and changed her pants into her PJ pants. She took the stone out of her wine-covered khakis as her mother came in.
"I'm here to get those pants to get the wine out."
Karyn passed her the pants, and her mom looked at the stone.
"That's a pretty stone, where'd you get it?"
"It's Jon's. He got it from his Grandpa."
"Must be really special to him, " said Karyn's mom touching the rock.
"It sure is." trying to take it away
"I wish you'd let me have that for a bit." and the stone got warm Zoe was reading when she heard the wish: Whatever, Granted
"OK mom"
"I haven't seen something like this before."
"It's unique mom. Be careful with it, it's Jon's"
"You spill one glass of wine... Well I'll have you know I'm not a klutz. It's a shame what happened to Jon, with his grandfather passing. Doesn't seem fair, he was such a nice man"
"He was really upset, and still is sometimes."
"It was nice of his grandfather to give him something to remember him by. I hope Jon is OK, I wish him the best" The stone glowed
