Fortunately for Jon, both Karyn and Zoe hadn't left the food court yet. That was the first place he looked. They didn't even notice him approaching, apparently too involved in their conversation with each other. And by the time Jon reached the table, it was too late to react.
Jon pushed Zoe off her chair and she fell to the floor.
"Hey!" Karyn yelled, standing up and glaring at Jon.
"Where's the stone?" Jon asked Zoe, who was still on the floor.
"How do you know about that?" she asked him back.
"I know because it's mine."
"No, it's not. Grandpa gave it to me."
Jon reached down at her, searching for the stone. "Give it to me, you bitch."
"Freeze, mister," a voice yelled out from behind him. Jon turned around and saw a mall security guard pointing a gun at him. "Now get up. Nice and slow."
Jon got up, and then Zoe did. One of them had the stone. But who?
