Then something occured to Jon. If his dad was dead, then why did his mom have a king-sized bed? He supposed that she just kept it for nostalgic reasons, but she currently didn't seem like the nostalgic type.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the front door. Thinking it might be Karyn, Jon said to Zoe "I'll get it." When he opened the door, he was treated to another shock. It wasn't Karyn, instead it was a teenage Goth boy.
"Oh. Hi, Steve," Zoe said, timidly.
The boy smiled. "Where's my bitch?"
"Upstairs," she replied.
The boy walked up the stairs, apparently going to see Jon's mom.
"Who's that?" Jon asked Zoe.
"Did you bump your head again? That's Steve. He comes by every now and then to ... you know."
"No. What?"
"Have sex with Mom," she replied, matter-of-factly.
"What?! But ... he's as old as I am." Jon looked back towards the stairs and saw the boy's boots step out of view. He had to do something about this. What if his mom got pregnant from this guy? Would she still be pregnant after the week was over? Or would everything just revert to the way it was? Jon really didn't want to take a chance. He was glad that he decided to grab the stone from his room before meeting the "new" Zoe. He definitely needed to use it now.
Jon ran up the stairs after Steve and saw him just outside his mom's door, readying to knock.
"Stop right there," Jon said, with authority.
