When they got to the park, the twin girls brainstormed ideas for the stone.
Elyse was the first to come up with something. "Oh! Why don't we ..." she began to say, but something made her stop.
"Elyse? What is it?" Zoe asked. She saw that her sister was staring at something, so she followed her gaze. "What are they doing here?"
The twin girls looked towards the edge of Chesapeake Park Lake (a fairly large pond within the park) and saw two Goth girls throwing stuff at the ducks. Elyse recognized one of them as Stephanie Wright and the other as ... Karyn. She remembered seeing photos of Karyn (in her bedroom) from a few years ago, when she was just starting to go Goth, but what she was seeing now was far beyond that. She might have been even more Goth than Zoe used to be, if that was possible. Even from a distance, Elyse could make out the partially-shaved head, the spiked collar, the chains and piercings. Karyn was completely different.
"Come on, Elyse. Let's go somewhere else," Zoe said.
