Kandi's mother (Bethany) finally began to stir awake. She had no idea why she was so tired, but she just couldn't get up that morning. Good thing she was taking a few days off from work, or she would have been in some deep trouble with her boss.
She sat up, but had trouble for some reason. Why did she feel so ... hefty? She pulled the bed quilt back and nearly shrieked. What ... what happened to her? She was so ... so fat!
Just like what happened to Jewel's parents, Kandi's parents had become fat as well. It's just that Bethany had been asleep all morning and hadn't noticed til now. And the reason she knew it wasn't normal, that she was supposed to be a fairly thin woman instead, was because she had been using the wishing stone since the previous day every now and then and heard her own wishes, even though she had no idea that she wishes were actually coming true.
Bethany hefted herself out of bed and then up on her feet. But soon after, she collapsed back down on her bed, falling into a fit of tears.
