Back at Karyn's house, her mother was in the living room, relaxing on the sofa. Now that she had the house to herself, she was thinking about catching up on a little reading. She had originally made plans to eat out with her friends from work, but they canceled their lunch. And her husband was out of town for the weekend, so for this Saturday, it was just her.
Sitting back, she opened the book to the last page she read. But as she did, she looked at the stone she had been holding since Karyn and Joan left. Why were they fighting over it? It was just a stone.
