... use the stone. He definitely hadn't considered anything like this and it wasn't really something to guess about.
The stone was quicker than an encyclopedia and faster than an Internet search. It told him that the ages that could be considered mature varied around the world, but the age of consent in Russia was really 16. Close enough. But the age of consent where he lived wasn't 21. 21 was the age of majority, which was something else. In fact, you couldn't be president until age 35--could the magic pick a different age than the first time, and age them up to 35 when he went home? Any of those numbers could be considered "mature" if you tried hard enough.
And something else was bothering him. The mother wasn't a model, the mother was a picture of a model. The children should be part picture--if that even meant anything. "Okay, I wish I knew what that meant."
Jon laughed as the stone explained, and then picked up a pad of hotel stationery. He tore off a piece of paper, held it up to Jessica's arm, and folded it, right into Jessica. Although the paper was just a normal sized piece of paper, somehow he managed to fold it, with Jessica vanishing into the piece of paper. When he unfolded it, there was a picture of Jessica in it. He shook the piece of paper and she reappeared, the paper turning blank again.
He needed some clothes for the girls, and he needed to get home. No, wait, what he really needed to do was fix the age so that he knew they wouldn't suddenly turn 35 if he went home. "I wish that 'mature' for this ring means only to age 16. Okay, now I wish that me and the girls are home again."
Of course, nothing happened, since he had wished he was in Russia and wishes couldn't be reversed....
